ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1998--Sega(r) Entertainment, Inc. (SEI), a company best-known for its popular conversions of renowned Sega arcade and character-based games, today announced a critical change in its company focus with a line-up featuring original content titles for the first time. This year's line-up features new real-time strategy and simulation games, in addition to popular Sega content optimized for the PC, which will appeal to different consumer segments -- "hard-core" gamers and "mass market" gamers -- representing more than 32 million households in the United States. SEI is striving to be a content leader across a range of game genres and maintain its leadership position in the $1.6 billion PC gaming market (PC Data) with a line-up which will include original titles "Conflict of Nations(tm)" and "Yoot's Tower(tm)," catapulting the company into the popular strategy and simulation game genres. According to a study conducted by Computer Gaming World, strategy and simulation genres are among the most popular with the hard core PC gamers, who are expected to help drive huge growth in the gaming industry. DFC Intelligence expects the PC gaming industry to grow to $2.5 billion by the year 2001.
