SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1999-- The 6-ton military assault truck and two all-terrain vehicles in the "Sega(R) Dreamcast(TM) Mobile Assault Tour" are headed to the frontline for a video game revolution. Destination: San Francisco Bay Area. Mission: give consumers hands-on training with Sega Dreamcast, the most advanced video game system and games ever developed, from Sega of America. Following is tour information for the Bay Area: Adidas Summer Skate Series Old Alameda Naval Air Station Alameda, California Saturday, August 28 10:00am - 4:30pm The "Sega Dreamcast Mobile Assault Tour" is crossing the country for 22 weeks hitting more than 200 popular consumer venues in major U.S. cities. More than 50 million consumers will see, hear or play Sega Dreamcast on the national "Sega Dreamcast Mobile Assault Tour." The tour vehicles were custom-designed to be able to invade almost any mass consumer location. Local market attacks begin with the arrival of the 6-ton, 46-foot "assault" truck. When the truck's back hatch is opened, two all-terrain vehicles drive out, turning any location into a gaming arena with 16 playable Sega Dreamcast systems. Partnering with Sega on the tour is IGN.com, the leading Internet destination for games and entertainment information. IGN.com will host the "Sega Dreamcast Championships" game competition throughout the tour, giving local contestants a chance to compete in the championship round for up to $15,000. IGN.com also will publish the "Official Mobile Assault Tour Web Site" at www.ign.com/assaulttour, featuring tour highlights and details on upcoming locations. To date, more than 200,000 U.S. consumers have pre-ordered Sega Dreamcast, breaking all industry records for pre-sales before a video game product launch.
