Chorion has extricated itself from the troublesome joint venture with Trocadero tenant Sega-world that was losing the entertainment and leisure group £2 million a year.

Chorion's share in profits from Segaworld's arcade, which opened in the Trocadero in Piccadilly in 1996, consistently failed to cover the rent.

Chief executive John Conlon said today that he had been trying to get rid of Segaworld since 2 September 1997, the day after he joined the company.

The space has been sub-let to Family Leisure, which will redevelop and broaden the appeal of the attractions. Chorion confirmed plans to roll out the bar-nightclub format following the success of Tiger Tiger on the Haymarket, with The Loop opening in Hanover Square this month.

Pre-tax profits for the six months to 30 June rose 132% to £1.4 million as sales soared 128% to £11.7 million.
