Available in the U.S. and Canada since September 9, 1999, Sega Dreamcast pre-sold more than 300,000 units and brought in over $97 million in retail sales during the first 24 hours, illustrating the overwhelming demand for the first videogame console with Internet functionality Using TRISIGNAL's embedded controllerless modem code and a V.90 data pump from Conexant (Nasdaq: CNXT), the Sega Dreamcast is the first videogame console to enter the market with Internet capabilities. The built-in modem ensures full Internet functionality, including chat, email and browsing through the Sega Dreamcast Network, an online gaming portal accessible only through Sega Dreamcast.
