Light and Shadow Production and Ubi Soft signed a partnership agreement for two major DreamWorks licenses: The Road to El Dorado and Toonsylvania.

PARIS – (March 14, 2000) -- Light and Shadow Production (LSP) and Ubi Soft® Entertainment are teaming up to produce and co-publish internationally two new video games under the licenses for The Road to El Dorado and Toonsylvania. These licenses belong to DreamWorks™, the company formed by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen. The move reflects Ubi Soft’s desire to develop very high-quality software for the new-generation consoles and offer gamers all the thrills they have come to expect. The partnership of a breathtaking universe and of Ubi Soft & LSP’s expertise, especially in the area of new consoles, is sure to produce a game that will be eagerly awaited in the international market, especially the United States.

The Road to El Dorado, the next super production of DreamWorks, is coming soon as a video game! The first few images are very promising… The adventurous spirit of the animated movie is a natural for video games, and this one will preserve both the picture’s historical and geographical inspiration. 3D images from the film will be integrated. Plans call for an international market launch for PC, the PlayStation® game console, Game Boy™ Color and Sega Dreamcast™ consoles at the same time the movie is released in Europe, in late 2000, and will thus take advantage of Hollywood’s marketing campaign for the animated feature. The PlayStation® 2 and the Dolphin versions are to be released in 2001.

The characters and comic world of the animated series Toonsylvania will also be featured in an action platform game. In Dr. Vic Frankenstein’s castle, Igor has once again botched an experiment: and you are Igor! The explosion smashed your friend Phil into a thousand pieces and sent them flying to different places. Now you must invent gizmos to help you move ahead in the game and recover the scattered bits of Phil. Spiders, rats, werewolves, carnivorous plants and other fearsome creatures will be waiting for you in the summer of 2000 on Game Boy Color.

A new European publisher in the multimedia and video game market, Light & Shadow Production was created in early 1999. From the start, Light & Shadow has developed and published mass-market products for all segments of the game market and distributed them internationally. After signing partnership agreements with such prestigious companies as DreamWorks, Universal and Dic (Disney), Light & Shadow Production now aims to become a significant player in the European multimedia market.

A producer, publisher, and distributor of interactive entertainment software, Ubi Soft has teams in 16 countries and distributes its products in over 50 territories. The group, which was created by the five Guillemot brothers in 1986, has gained strong foothold on its market by creating original products (Rayman®, Speed Devils™, Laura’s Happy Adventures™, POD®, F1 Racing Simulation™, etc.) and distributing the titles of other publishers (LucasArts Entertainment™, The 3DO Company®, Entertainment Software Publishing, Inc., Europress, etc.).

Ubi Soft generated turnover of FF 870 million (US$ 149 million) for fiscal year 1998/99, up 37.6% over the previous fiscal year. Earnings for the year reached FF 41 million (US$ 7 million), an increase of 41.2% over 1997/98.
