LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2000 Arabian Prince, High-Tech Superspy, Radical Surf Action and Classic Toy Line Coming to Sega Dreamcast(TM) And Sony PlayStation(R) Game Console The Entertainment Division of Mattel Interactive today announced several new offerings for the core gaming audience at the 2000 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. With these new titles, Mattel Interactive has embarked on its goal of bringing quality products to the gaming enthusiast market while maintaining its strong presence in the boys and girls markets with brands like Hot Wheels, Barbie, Nickelodeon and Fisher Price. "Our goal at Mattel Interactive is to provide the best possible gaming experience for every type of gamer," said Bernie Stolar, president, Mattel Interactive. "Bringing the Mattel name and Mattel products to the core gaming audience is a logical move to satisfy that objective." In 2000, console gamers can expect the following titles: Prince of Persia(R) The original action adventure hero is coming to the Sega Dreamcast! Developed by Avalanche Software, Prince of Persia is a third-person, real-time adventure action game and the sequel to the award-winning Prince of Persia games originally created by Jordan Mechner. Prince of Persia includes all the features which made the first title so popular, including fluid, realistic animation, devious traps and an elegantly simple interface for running, jumping climbing and combat. The storyline, co-authored by Mechner, is in the rich tradition of the Arabian Nights and pulls the player through the exotic and fantastic locales of ancient 12th century Persia, as you guide the Prince through ornate palaces, labyrinthine caverns, mystical ruins and bizarre fortresses to save his true love from the evil Sultan and his freakish nephew, Rugnor. Prince of Persia for the Sega Dreamcast is scheduled to ship in Q4. Max Steel(TM) Developed by Treyarch, Max Steel is inspired by the popular line of Mattel action figures and vehicles, as well as a CG animated series. Enhanced by powerful nano-technology, Max Steel fights terrorism worldwide as an operative of the top-secret organization N-TEK. When the head of N-TEK is kidnapped by the terrorist group known as DREAD, Max will need to use his arsenal of high-tech gadgets as well as his nano-enhanced powers of strength, speed and stealth to rescue his boss and prevent DREAD from achieving its goals of world domination! Max Steel explodes onto the Sega Dreamcast in Q4. Billabong(R) Pro Surfer (Working Title) Available in Q4 for both the Sega Dreamcast and Sony PlayStation Game Console, Billabong Pro Surfer is the first authentic surfing action-arcade game. Players can select one of several members of the Billabong Pro 2000 team (including the reigning men's and women's champion), learn to surf different locations (sand beaches, left and right hand break points, a tropical cove and a monumental offshore reef break), then compete in a full-circuit championship contest. This is the first surfing game to bring true wave behavior and technology to a console environment and players can look forward to learning and executing a full range of surfing moves and stunts. Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots(R) Arena Shipping in Q4, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Arena will launch a new franchise for Mattel, with a full line of action figures to follow in 2001. Developed for the Sony PlayStation Game Console by Paradox Development, this two-player fighting game takes this toy line in an exciting new direction. Based on the classic toy line of the 60's, Rock'em Sock'em is a fast-paced arena combat game that enables players to hone their fighting skills using one of eight battle-ready robots; customized `bots can also be created by combining various arms, legs and torsos. Another exciting mode of the game enables two-player head-to-head combat, with a "pink-slip" mode where players wager their robots' parts in a winner-take-all showdown. A ranking system takes players through various arenas, pitting them against other arena challengers plus four super-skilled "boss `bots" for the title. Nostalgia favorites Red Rocker and Blue Bomber will also be in the game as play-by-play commentators, and perhaps ... Contestants?
