LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2000

Sega.com, a leading online interactive entertainment company for gamers, today announced an open partnership with 2Wire, Inc., the leading developer of residential gateway products that integrate DSL and home networking.

2Wire's HomePortal(TM) residential gateway will enable SegaNet(TM), the only high-speed console gaming network and ISP, to expand its broadband capabilities. 2Wire's award-winning HomePortal brings the benefits of broadband access to Sega Dreamcast(TM) system users.

By connecting with the 2Wire HomePortal, gamers can easily convert their Dreamcast systems into super-fast broadband Internet devices with up to 20 times the speed of dial-up service, using the Dreamcast console's modular Ethernet port, which will be available later this year. The Sega Dreamcast/2Wire HomePortal solution will be demonstrated in the Sega.com booth No. 2116 at E3 in Los Angeles this week.

"Working with 2Wire allows SegaNet to display the awesome graphics and high-speed game play made possible by broadband technology," said Greg Chiemingo, vice president of marketing, Sega.com. "Since the launch of Dreamcast, Sega has been committed to providing gamers with a powerful online extension to the gaming experience. By partnering with 2Wire, we now enable multiple users within the home to use their Sega Dreamcast systems and PCs simultaneously to connect to SegaNet for more flexibility in their gaming."

The 2Wire HomePortal provides a DSL broadband connection that delivers high-speed Internet access and on-demand audio and video entertainment to any location within the home. The always-connected DSL access that HomePortal provides will enable gamers to simply turn on their Sega Dreamcast for instant, online interactive gaming.

"Our partnership with Sega.com is an essential element in our strategy to deliver broadband capabilities throughout the home, to create a complete home data, voice and entertainment network," said Roy Johnson, vice president of marketing and business development, 2Wire. "We are pleased to be working with Sega.com in this emerging space, to bring the full capabilities of broadband to the gaming community for a richer, more robust interactive gaming experience."
