Spawn Now Available

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — October 20, 2000— Capcom®, a leading worldwide publisher and developer of award-winning coin-operated games and home console video games, today announced plans to bring the arcade smash hit, based on Todd McFarlane’s #1 comic book Spawn®, to Sega Dreamcast™ this October. The Spawn game is based on the incredibly popular comic book character of the same name. Created by famed comic artist and Emmy winner Todd McFarlane, Spawn is an assassinated CIA agent who struck a deal with the dark side to return to earth one more time to see his wife and child in exchange for leading Hell’s army. Instead, he uses his immense powers in the pursuit of good. The game is being created in conjunction with Todd McFarlane Entertainment. Todd McFarlane and TME’s President Terry Fitzgerald, are the game’s executive producers. Spawn allows for up to four-players to play the game simultaneously, using the latest in split screen technology, for an all out, four-way battle. Spawn is rated ‘M’ for matureaudiences only by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). Spawn will sell for a suggested retail price of $49.95.

Enhancements to the Sega Dreamcast version include:

- Team Battle Tournament – Players can choose computer-controlled partnercharacter(s) to play Team Battle. Players can defeat enemy teams one-after-another to become champion

- Character Ending Movies – Sega Dreamcast exclusive feature that offers a different ending for each character.

- Battle Royal Tournament – Players choose a computer-controlled character(s) to play “Battle Royal,” an all out battle that pits all players against each other. The player with the most points wins.

- Computer Controlled Boss Attack – Computer controlled characters assists in a fightagainst a boss character

- Collection Mode – Players earn rewards the more times they play

- Stage configuration – Players can change the stage, turn on night vision, control the gravity and more

- Rules configuration – Players can turn on/offradar, lock-on sights, and adjust handicaps so players of different skill sets can play together.

- New playable character, Al Simons, added.

Utilizing the power of Sega’s Dreamcast, Spawn features unmatched game graphics and intense fast action.All of the characters and backgrounds in Spawn are polygonal, which allows the characters to move any direction and view items from any angle. The in-game camera is positioned directly behind the character and changes at key moments, increasing the cinematicfeel of the game. Spawn features ‘Team versus Team’ mode which allows players to battle against friends or computer opponents. Each character has their own unique ending that holds true to Todd McFarlane’s marvelous storyline.

To maximize impact and stay true to the original comic, the game is designed so characters fight using original diabolical weapons from the comic. Throughout the game, carefully crafted camera angles reproduce all of the excitement of theoriginal comic book.
