GameWorks to Open Third Southern California Location

GLENDALE, CA. May 14, 2002 - GameWorks, the high-tech entertainment, restaurant and bar experience, has finalized an agreement with Developers Diversified Realty to open their fifteenth domestic destination in Long Beach, California in 2003, announced Ron Lam, President & CEO of GameWorks.

The 40,000 square foot, single level venue will be located in the new Pike at Rainbow Harbor development in Long Beach. The new GameWorks will feature an indoor and outdoor restaurant based on the popular full-service Jax Grill restaurant concept along with two high-energy bars. This venue will showcase the company's highly acclaimed, unique blend of service and entertainment. In addition to signature proprietary games and attractions and a live entertainment stage, GameWorks will offer a custom designed bowling alley. With proximity to the Long Beach Convention Center, the site will also offer state-of-the-art corporate meeting facilities and private party rooms.

The GameWorks at the Pike at Rainbow Harbor venue will follow the 'localized' entertainment concept of GameWorks' recently opened successful locations in Tampa, Florida, and Newport on the Levee in Newport, Kentucky by integrating regional programs, campaigns and staffed talent into the entertainment.

"The commitment to the Long Beach project represents our efforts to find a prime location for GameWork's next Southern California destination that also taps into a growing tourist, local and business clientele," said Lam. "We are thrilled to partner with DDR on this exciting new property that reinvigorates the historic Long Beach waterfront area and further allows us to provide our unique brand of entertainment," said Lam.

GameWorks has experienced growing momentum and success in its stores over the past two quarters. The recently opened GameWorks Newport location exceeded original sales expectations by 25% in the first two months of business. Since adopting a localized entertainment strategy, including themed regional sports nights, and franchised programs such as Speed Dating and the music driven 'Flashback Friday', as well as hiring local talent and personalities, the same store sales trend continues to move up.Expansion of the restaurant menus and concepts has yielded a 12% per check increase across all venues. GameWorks announced last year construction of their 14th domestic location in Minneapolis. The venue will co-anchor the development of "Block E," a site in Minneapolis' entertainment district, and is scheduled to open in Fall 2002.
