SEGA SHIPS OTOGI 2: IMMORTAL WARRIORS ON XBOX (October 19, 2004) - SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced the launch of Otogi™2: Immortal Warriors for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft. Called "the best Japanese-developed Xbox game to date" by Electronic Gaming Monthly, Otogi 2: Immortal Warriors features an unparalleled visual presentation and the addition of five new playable characters. Like its predecessor, this new adventure is set in Japan and steeped in real-life folklore and mysticism. Raikoh, the famed undead warrior, managed to temporarily save the Japanese population from an onslaught of demons, but had not vanquished them all before returning to his grave. The demons have regrouped from hiding places within the sacred capital of Japan, and they are attempting to take control of man once more. In response, four brave warriors take their own lives in a ritual to resurrect Raikoh. Raikoh returns to life and the selfless warriors rise with him, set to take on the encroaching demon spawn as a team. "SEGA is thrilled with the level of critical acclaim that Otogi 2: Immortal Warriors has already received; surpassing that of its predecessor." said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Entertainment Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Xbox owners will be blown away by the action-packed experience that includes lavish visuals that demonstrate the technical prowess of FromSoftware, a leading Xbox developer." Progression through the game is based on the player's actions, allowing for several different endings. Each warrior offers a distinctly different gaming experience, and RPG-style skill buffers subtly build the character's attributes around a player's personal gaming style. Performing a lot of magic spells will make a character smarter, taking lots of damage will make a character stronger, etc. And regardless of which warrior one chooses to play as, mass destruction is always assured; nearly every background item in the game can be smashed or destroyed to spectacular effect. Otogi 2: Immortal Warriors (Microsoft Xbox; priced at $39.95) is rated 'T' for Teen and is available at retailers nationwide.
