The Sega TV Game-ki Zenkoku Contest (セガTVゲーム機全国コンテスト) is thought to have been one of the first (if not the first) video game championships. It was a Japanese nationwide event hosted by Sega in 1974.
16 finalists competed against each other in Table Hockey for a colour television, black and white television, cassette recorders and transistor radios. They had been selected by lottery from the 300 location champions throughout Japan.
The winner was 28-year-old banker, Osamu Kuroda.
