Sega, S.A. Sonic v. Sega Enterprises, Ltd. is a 199x case where Eduardo Morales-Hermo of the Spanish Sega distributor Sega, S.A. (Segasa) sued the Japanese Sega Enterprises, Ltd. over the first "use of Sonic".[1]
History
The Spanish Sega distributor Sega, S.A. had been operating under the name Sonic since at least the 1970s, and while the details are unknown, the Japanese Sega Enterprises later found themselves the recipient of a lawsuit concerning usage of the name.[1]
Result
Reportedly, the case was too expensive for Sega, S.A. to continue, and was dropped.[1]
