The company is not thought to have designed products itself, but rather adapt Japanese medal game machines for the US market.

In March 1997, the company was sold to a group of investors, leaving Sega with only 20% control over the company. Sega re-purchased the remaining 80% in 2000, before selling it to Shuffle Master in 2003[1]. As part of this deal, Shuffle Master gained the rights to distribute Sega Gaming Technology's games.
