Revision as of 01:34, 23 November 2014

Hello, my name is Allison and I'm a brazilian fan of Sega. If you need help translating stuff from portuguese to english or vice-versa, feel free to contact me.
I'm currently trying to contribute as much as I can, mostly with info about Tectoy's releases and related scans since they were part of my childhood, but I'll try to add info about releases of other countries as well.

Regarding prices of BR releases

Brazil used 4 different currencies between 1989 and nowadays, making it difficult to add the prices to the pages. No idea if the admins can use such info but it was extracted from the official site of the "Banco do Brasil" (main/government brazilian bank):

  • 1989/01/16~1990/03/15 — Name: Cruzado Novo / Symbol: NCz$
  • 1990/03/16~1993/07/30 — Name: Cruzeiro / Symbol: Cr$ / Value: remained the same
  • 1993/08/01~1994/06/30 — Name: Cruzeiro Real / Symbol: CR$ / Value: 3 less zeroes (Example: Cr$ 500,000.00 = CR$ 500.00)
  • 1994/07/01~now — Name: Real / Symbol: R$ / Value: at the time it changed CR$ 2,700.00 = R$ 1.00

This is relevant because the Master System was first released in 1989-09 (NCz$), the Mega Drive in 1990/11 (Cr$) and Sega Saturn in 1995/05 (R$), for example.

Streets of Rage 2: Gameplay

Enemies

{{{imagewidths}}} Galsia
Galsia is a common street punk, known from Streets of Rage, with improved yet similar sprites. He is very weak, has low health and does not have special attacks. Like in the previous game, he appears sometimes wielding a knife, performing the same attacks.
{{{imagewidths}}} Donovan
Donovan is a skinhead thug characterized by sunglasses. He has a special uppercut that is used, occasionally, to counter players' flying kicks. Sometimes he appears wielding pipes, and he can also grab them on the ground.
{{{imagewidths}}} Signal Gang
Another enemy known from Streets of Rage, characterized by the mohawk, with the sprites completely remade. He is quite slow, but has the abilities of throwing the players and a sliding attack that can knock them down. His variations, except for Axi and Mavin, are named after the color of the jacket. Y. Signal wears a yellow jacket, for example.
{{{imagewidths}}} Biker Gang
Members of the Biker Gang wear a full helmet and, sometimes, appear riding motorcycles. They have a special punch which knocks you down, and they can also grab you from behind. The name variations are related to weather conditions, such as Fog, Storm and Typhoon.
{{{imagewidths}}} Hanzo
Ninjutsu enemies usually come wielding either a Katana or a Kunai, which can deal a lot of damage and knock you down, at the same time. They move quite fast, have a sidestep technique to dodge your attacks, can throw Shurikens midair while jumping, can perform flying kicks to knock you down and have the ability of throwing you away.
{{{imagewidths}}} Hakuyo
Based on Haku-Oh from Streets of Rage, their sprites are completely different. They have powerful flying kicks, can perform upward kicks to counter players' attacks and have a very strong palm strike, similar to one of Blaze's special moves, which will throw you away and knock you down.
{{{imagewidths}}} Jack
Jack is another character re-used from the first game, but this time he looks like a punk instead of a clown and has grown more muscles. He throws knives when you stand still far from him and uses them for slashing when you get close. He has a infinite supply of knives and can do moderate damage, but is quite easy to kill. All his name variations (Jack, Beano and Soya) come from Japanese bean snacks released at the time.
{{{imagewidths}}} Electra
Electra, known as Nora in Streets of Rage, and all of her variations, always come at you armed with a electric whip. She is the only female enemy found in the game, who first appears as a miniboss on the first round, just before Barbon leave his bartender position to fight you. Besides the whip, she can perform a flying kick which knocks you down.
{{{imagewidths}}} Big Ben
Big Ben is a fat guy based on Bongo from Streets of Rage. He has been demoted to miniboss and highly weakened in Streets of Rage 2. He still runs diagonally breathing fire like before, but it happens less frequently and can now be thrown away without the player getting smashed by his weight. Big Ben does a face-slapping sequence if you get close enough and can perform a body press if you get distracted.
{{{imagewidths}}} Kickboxer
The kickboxer first appears in Round 5 and have powerful kicks. The name variations are all after birds, such as Eagle and Raven. This enemy isn't present in the Game Gear version.
{{{imagewidths}}} Vehelits
Vehelits is a miniboss found at an area of Round 3 which looks like an alien basement.

20 em 1: Gallery

20 em 1: Gameplay

All of the games grant you 60 seconds to reach a certain score, which varies from game to game. In most of the games the only buttons available are Left and Right, which move the character to the respective direction, some games allow you to jump with button 1, and a few of them have an action, such as shooting, available with button 2.

20em1 SMS BR Game01.png Game 01
You are a construction worker who has to catch tools, which fall vertically from the top of the screen, using a bucket.
20em1 SMS BR Game02.png Game 02
You control a hungry lunar creature, that needs to collect pieces of cake and burgers while avoiding explosive obstacles, which will decrease your score if touched. On this game the screen scrolls both to the right and to the left, and every time it is done the items and obstacles on the floor change. You can also use the Up and Down buttons, while moving horizontally.
20em1 SMS BR Game03.png Game 03
You are a skater boy who earns points by just moving forward and loses points when you touch the obstacles. The Left button is used for braking, and the Up and Down buttons can only be used if the character is moving forward.
20em1 SMS BR Game04.png Game 04
You control an odd creature and do not face any enemies or obstacles, and the only buttons available are Right and 1, which is used to jump. The screen scrolls, very slowly, to the right and you only need to move fast enough to finish the game.
20em1 SMS BR Game05.png Game 05
You are a little mouse who can move horizontally and jump with button 1. The goal is to catch pieces of cheese which fall diagonally from the top.
20em1 SMS BR Game06.png Game 06
It is very similar to Game 01, but you are a diver who must catch coins, which fall horizontally from the top. Another difference is the presence of a shark, that shows up occasionally and makes your score go down if touched.
20em1 SMS BR Game07.png Game 07
You control a biker from a top-down perspective and must simply go through the way avoiding the (very few) obstacles. Down button is used to accelerate, and you can go to the Left and to the Right, while in movement.
20em1 SMS BR Game08.png Game 08
You drive a yellow car that can be moved to any direction around the screen. You earn points by just avoiding the other cars which appear on the screen trying to hit you.
20em1 SMS BR Game09.png Game 09
You are a brazilian native boy, guiding a canoe on a river. The goal is to dodge the rocks, alligators and flying arrows on the way.
20em1 SMS BR Game10.png Game 10
You control a helicopter from a top-down perspective, like in Game 07, and earn points by shooting a rival helicopter with button 1. When either helicopters get hit they become invulnerable and cannot move for a few seconds. This game allows you to move to any directions, diagonals inclusive.
