KGen is a Sega Mega Drive emulator for DOS, developed by Steve Snake. It was written in 1997 and at the time, the only emulator able to run most games, as well as having YM2612 emulation.

Steve Snake later developed KGen-X, a rewrite of KGen which was never released, and KGen98, a complete rewrite of KGen with lots of new features and redesigns.
