Master System version
Sega Mark III logo
Although the Master System version of Choplifter was not released in Japan, there is programming to display the Sega Mark III logo before the title screen if the game detects it is being played on a Japanese system.
Level select
On the title screen, press 
, then start the game. The level number will increment automatically, so press when the desired number appears.
