While not released in Japan, code exists to remove the ™ symbol from the introductory Sega logo if the game detects it is being played on a Japanese system.

Wave select

On the title screen, press 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2. You will then be able to choose a wave from 1 to 99.

This screen is very sensitive and without the frame-by-frame control of an emulator, it is very difficult to pick a precise wave. Holding Down rapidily increases the wave number, while letting go sees the number decrease, however even in its resting position the game will flicker between waves 1 and 2.
