Invasion is a playable history of Space Invaders type games built into a single Sega Mega Drive game. It offers 6 different modes of play that represent distinct versions of the game that inspire nostalgia. It includes Psycatic Software's own version of the game and a 2 player co-operative challenge mode.

A limited physical cartridge of this game was released in 2016. All profits from the sale go directly to funding the Museum of Gaming.[1]

    Gameplay

This game plays similarly to classic Space invaders, but with a variety of game modes. Some modes featured different power-ups, as well as the graphics and music.

The six modes are as follows:-

    • Classic Arcade: This is a nostalgic representation of the 1978 arcade version.
    • Cosmic Invaders: Represents the a classic arcade cloned game from 1979.
    • VCS Invaders: Homage to the Atari 2600 edition from 1980.
    • Galaxy 1000 LED: In 1981 hand held games used LED's to give you action on the move.
    • Destroyers LCD: Inspired by an LCD version that was built into a calculator in 1982.
    • Invasion: Psycatic Software's own take on the genre, a sort of Space Invaders world tour from 2014.
