Genre: Shoot-'em-Up |
Quake is a first person shooter on the PC created by id Software that received several console ports. The Sega Saturn version was converted by Lobotomy Software and published by Sega.
Sega Saturn Version
In 1997, the game was ported over to the Sega Saturn by Lobotomy Software. Rather than running in the Quake engine, the developer ported the game under their own 3D engine custom made for the Saturn labeled "SlaveDriver" which was also used for their other PC to console ports such as Powerslave and Duke Nukem 3D. Quake is the only one of the three ports to feature 3D objects and enemies. The Saturn port received four exclusive levels named "Purgatorium", "Hell's Aerie", The "Coliseum" and "Watery Grave." The 3D Control Pad could also be used for more precise control. There is no multiplayer mode of any kind in this version.
Saving Data
Quake makes use of the Saturn's internal battery back-up to save data for progress.
