'''''Bug!''''', called バグ! ジャンプして、ふんづけちゃって、ぺっちゃんこ in Japan, is a video game for the [[Sega Saturn]]. Released in 1995 in North America, Japan and Europe, it was one of the earliest 3D platform games. It was later released for Windows 3.x & Windows 95 on August 31, 1996 by Beam Software, on one CD that contains both versions of the game.

''Bug!'' was played like a traditional side-scrolling adventure title. In the same fashion as Sonic, Bug jumped on the heads of his enemies to defeat them while making his way through large levels and collecting power-ups. Bug can walk sidewise up vertical surfaces and even upside down, which actually adds a lot to the feel of the game; no other platformed has done something like this, at least not this well. Each set of levels (ranging from a bright, green grassy area to a deep red, desert level) have a deeply individual look and feel.

''Bug!'' is a "2.5D" platform game, which for the most part is played like a traditional side-scrolling title. At various points in the level, Bug is allowed to travel towards or away from the camera, adding a third dimension in the process, however players are always confined to corridors, meaning gameplay is not as "open" as future 3D platformers, for example, ''Super Mario 64''. Though levels are built using 3D geometry, the objects in a level are represented by 2D sprites.

Players could pick up two powerups to give Bug new forms of attack. One gave him an electric attack which was best used in close-quarters while another gave him a poisonous spitting attack for ranged combat.

Bug! (Bug!: Jump Shite, Fundzukechatte, Pecchanko (バグ! ジャンプして、ふんづけちゃって、ぺっちゃんこ) in Japan), is a platform video game developed by Realtime Associates and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn and later PC.

Bug! was followed by Bug Too!, released in the following year.

Story

The plot revolves around the title character, Bug, an actor in Hollywood hoping to make his "big break". Players take control shortly after Bug has signed a deal for the lead role in an action film, in which his girlfriend is kidnapped by a black widow spider and he is tasked with rescuing her. The gameplay takes place "on the set" of each scene of the movie, and cutscenes between levels show Bug moving from one set to the next.

Gameplay

Bug! is a "2.5D" platform game, which for the most part is played like a traditional side-scrolling title. At various points in the level, Bug is allowed to travel towards or away from the camera, adding a third dimension in the process, however players are always confined to corridors, meaning gameplay is not as "open" as future 3D platformers, for example, Super Mario 64. Though levels are built using 3D geometry, the objects in a level are represented by 2D sprites.

Similar to many platformers, Bug can defeat enemies by jumping and landing on their heads. At certain points in the game Bug is able to walk up vertical surfaces and even upside down. Players can pick up two powerups to give Bug new forms of attack - one gives him an electric attack which was best used in close-quarters while another gives him a poisonous spitting attack for ranged combat.
