Soldier of Fortune is a first person shooter originally released for PC in 2000, published by Activision and developed by Raven Software. The following year the game was brought to the Sega Dreamcast by Crave Entertainment and Runecraft. The game was controversial at launch due to its high amounts of graphic violence and gore, featuring different forms of dismemberment.
The Dreamcast version is mostly the same as the PC original, and even supports the Mouse and Keyboard peripherals, but it lacks the multiplayer component, lacks some graphical effects, simplifies some level geometry and is notorious for having lengthy load times.

History
Release
In the UK, Soldier of Fortune was initially set to be released on August 17th, but was recalled at the last minute due to not having the BBFC certificate printed on the front cover[8]. Still, enough copies slipped through for it to make number 2 in that week's ELSPA Dreamcast charts, before disappearing the following week and not returning until it re-entered at number 1 after it's revised release date of September 14th. Due to this there are two variants; one with the BBFC certificate on the front cover and disc, and a rarer version without.
