Super Fighter Team was founded in 2004 by San Diego, California-based entrepreneur Brandon Cobb.

The company takes its name from the obscure 1993 Taiwanese C&E fighting game Super Fighter, which was the first title acquired by Super Fighter Team for modern distribution. The company has since acquired the rights to produce and publish various other games that are relatively unknown to the Western world.[1]
