Galleon is an action game designed by Toby Gard, one of the big names behind the original Tomb Raider. Announced for the PlayStation in 1997, it entered a protracted development cycle and moved to the Sega Dreamcast, before being moved again and released in 2001 for the Xbox.

Due to the significance of Tomb Raider, Galleon was hyped up by the gaming press, but a number of delays caused it to receive mixed reviews upon release. The Dreamcast version was set to be released in mid-2000, roughly six months after a PC version (which was also cancelled). PlayStation 2 and GameCube versions would also be announced and cancelled in the years which followed.
