This short article is in need of work. You can help Sega Retro by adding to it.

Iri-san is a tech demo for the Sega Dreamcast, shown at the Sega New Challenge Conference. It consists of the animated head of then-Sega president Shoichiro Irimajiri, which shows off various lighting, transparency and particle effects, and also features a brief appearance by Sonic the Hedgehog.

The model used for Sonic was used in Sonic Adventure, which at the time had not been officially revealed. This means this tech demo is the first sighting of Sonic's revised design, which would go on to be a staple of the series for many years to come.
