World's Scariest Police Chases: Deadly Pursuit is an unreleased Sega Dreamcast game based on the US TV show World's Scariest Police Chases, in development by Perfect Entertainment, although magazine articles refer to predecessor company Teeny Weeny Games.
The game was to be a mission-based driving game set in a large open city, where you play as a police officer doing various tasks and apprehending criminals, amongst other things. It was also going to feature some multiplayer elements, such as a co-operative mode where two players take control of the driver and shooter, respectively, and a competitive cops-and-robbers mode. Another planned feature was support for the Dreamcast Microphone, where it'd be used to issue out orders or call for backup.
However, while the game recieved previews from certain magazines and sites, and had various screenshots, Deadly Pursuit was quietly cancelled, presumably due to Perfect/Teeny Weeny going bankrupt. One of the game's programmers has mentioned online that they'd managed to get the cars, physics and most of the city into the game, but no missions had been developed. No prototypes have surfaced yet.
In 2001 a World's Scariest Police Chases game (minus the "Deadly Pursuit" subtitle) was released for the PlayStation, published by Activision instead of Fox Interactive, and developed by Unique Development Studios. While following a similar concept, it is an entirely different game from Deadly Pursuit. Later on, another game based on the show was in development for PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox, titled World's Scariest Police Chases: Code Red, to be published by Sierra Entertainment and developed by HotGen, but this too was also cancelled, although a prototype of that one has surfaced in recent years.
