Sega Mega CD was first presented in Central and Eastern Europe in October 1993 and in the following years it was released in other countries of this region. Only the second console model, the same as in Western Europe, was on sale, with the exception of CIS countries where, in addition to the above-mentioned model, the NTSC model from Asia was sold.
Although the Mega CD was more popular in this region than the Mega Drive 32X, it did not gain a large audience as in the rest of Europe. The console remained on sale in store shelves for a long time and the last models were seen in 1999.
