European Racers, also known as Backroad Racers[2], Power Modeler[3], and Power Modeling[1], was a planned Sega Mega-CD port of the 1993 computer game of the same name, sponsored by model car manufacturer Revell and scheduled to be published by its software division Revell CD in Q3 1993[1] (later pushed back to June 1994[2]). Its retail cost of $69.95[5] (slightly higher than the contemporary average) was a result of its planned inclusion of one of the company's model cars in the game box.[2]

History

European Racers was part a promotional giveaway held in mid 1994[5] by Revell CD and advertised in gaming magazines like Game Players[5] and Electronic Gaming Monthly. Winners could receive Mega-CD systems bundled with copy of the game, simply the game by itself, or a t-shirt from the contest's respective magazine.
