Dark Empires is an unreleased Sega Mega Drive fantasy real-time strategy[1] game being developed by Sega Technical Institute around late 1991. Although development proceeded to a playable state, the project was ultimately cancelled.[1]

History

In a 2020 YouTube comment on his video resume, Sega Technical Institute artist Craig Stitt recalls that Dark Empires had reached a "first-playable" point in development, but that the project did not last much longer. He also stated that he still has a copy of the game's ROM.[1]
