Quest Co., Ltd. (株式会社クエスト) was a Japanese video game developer and publisher best known from the Ogre Battle series.

Company

Quest was founded in July 1988 and headed by Makoto Tokugawa (徳川誠). The company would later merge with fellow Japanese developer Bothtec, with that company becoming Quest's Windows PC games and software division. In September 1997, Bothtec was spun back off as a separate company.[1]

In 1990, the company experienced financial troubles, and numerous staff departed to Square's internal production team, Square Development Division #4 (headed by former Quest staffer and Ogre Battle series director Yasumi Matsuno (松野泰己).[1])

Square would later fully acquire Quest's games business on June 19, 2002, and the company was subsequently closed less than one year later.[1]
