Gens is a Sega Genesis emulator programmed by Stéphane Dallongeville. One of the latest Genesis emulators and probably the best, it features 32X as well as Sega CD support, as well as sporting a windows-based GUI. These features and many others quickly propelled it to be known as the most commonly used and best emulator.
The emulator is open-source, and the current official version is 2.11. There is a number of unofficial versions, including:
