Metropolis Street Racer Opel Challenge is a pre-release version of Metropolis Street Racer, built to both advertise the game, and the then-new Opel Speedster. It is thought to have been released around summer 2000.
The demo allows players to race either an Opel Speedster or the UK model, the Vauxhall VX220 around a single track (Asakusa Japan) in either one or two player modes. The Speedster effectively became the signature car of MSR, featuring predominantly on the front cover and being the only car selectable in certain modes.
The origins of Metropolis Street Racer Opel Challenge are currently unknown - it is estimated that roughly 200 copies of the disc were printed and were likely only used at trade events across Europe.
