Eliminator is an arcade game developed by Sega and Gremlin, and published by Sega for the Sega G80 vector arcade hardware. It was released in 1981.
Contents
Gameplay
It is a shoot-'em up game similar to Atari's Asteroids, however supports up to four players at once (both two player and four player cabinets are available). The object of the game is not to destroy your opponent per se, but rather to hit the centre of a large asteriod (the "eliminator") which moves across the screen. Hitting the eliminator will cause your ship to explode and a life will be lost. Firing and hitting opponents causes the enemy ship to rebound from the shot - it does not destroy it.
Extra enemies will generate from the centre of the eliminator after a certain period. These will attempt to fly straight into your ship and destroy it.
History
Legacy
Eliminator was included as an unlockable extra in the PlayStation Portable version of Sega Mega Drive Collection.
