Sega GT 2002 is a sequel to Sega GT, released exclusively on the Microsoft Xbox in 2002. It was originally due to be released as a Sega Dreamcast game, but development switched to the Xbox following the Dreamcast's demise as a home video game console.
Sega GT 2002 was pitched as Sega's answer to Gran Turismo 3, which had seen success on the Sony PlayStation 2, however is widely considered an inferior gamem with many critics feeling that the game failed to take advantage of the superior specifications of the Xbox console. In North America, it was, for a time, bundled with Jet Set Radio Future and sold along with Xbox consoles.
Sega GT 2002 was updated in the form of Sega GT Online, also exclusive to the Xbox and released in 2003.
