Moving unreleased ports to released game subpages
A lot of "unreleased ports of released games" pages could maybe... get wrapped into a subpage on their released game pages? Like we do with prototypes, listed at the bottom of the navbox.
The 32X prototype of Pinocchio already does this, but I'd like to see this done for unreleased pages too, even without a dumped anything. It would make sense from a wiki navigation perspective, and it would address a lot of these unreleased pages being short on content. Just ensure the name formatting is a little different from dumped protos (prob just lacking the date but iunno).
If turning them into subpages would cause issues anywhere, we could set up Template:Omni to automatically include links to these pages in the Omni's prototype field. Then, we'd add a new field to Template:UnreleasedBob which names which game's omni it should be in (like the "relatedto=" field in Template:MusicBob). - CartridgeCulture (talk) 01:57, 15 September 2023 (EDT)
Merchandise pages listing all merchandise, not just third-party
We have a lot of loose, unlinked merchandise pages (even first-party), and wedging each into its product's nav template won't work. Consider including them on its Merchandise page instead (would need dedicated first/third party sections and a heavily-reduced MerchTable). This isn't usually a problem, as our philosophy of "lots of things get individual pages" and "we have complex navboxes" usually finds a place for things. This is probably why so many merch pages stick to third-party merchandise.
But a lot still gets missed or just floats around. This is a problem that's only going to grow larger when someone starts going ham on Sakura Taisen shirts or whatever. - CartridgeCulture (talk) 06:39, 8 September 2023 (EDT)
Section switching autoreplace project for scifi future ancestors
Figuring out a way to safely automate switching the order of article sections would be huge, as we're fairly inconsistent in this regard. It would likely be a massive project, if even possible. - CartridgeCulture (talk) 06:39, 8 September 2023 (EDT)
