Waterworld is a Sega Saturn game developed by Ocean Software. Based on the 1995 film Waterworld, it was planned for release in 1996[2][3] or early 1997,[8] but despite being virtually complete was eventually cancelled by the publisher due to the box-office failure of the movie it was based on. A 16-bit version for the Mega Drive was planned for release at the same time, but had its physical release cancelled around mid 1996, only to eventually be broadcast on the Sega Channel as one of the system's more notable downloadable exclusives.

A Sega 32X version was also reportedly in production, but no evidence to support this has ever surfaced, and the game's designer Steve Woita has no recollection of a 32-bit cartridge version.
