An Alternative Reality: The Football Manager Documentary is a documentary about the Football Manager series produced by FilmNova, directed by Louis Myles and narrated by Vicky McClure. It had a limited theatrical release on 7 October 2014 in 35 Vue cinemas throughout the UK and Ireland, and was broadcast on 49 sports channels internationally. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray on 3 November 2014.
The film features anecdotes from the series' creators, brothers Oliver and Paul Collyer, as well as various researchers and people who worked on the game, and also fans of the game. Topics discussed include the history of the game, its development, its real-world applications in managing and scouting for actual football teams, and the experiences of Football Manager enthusiasts.
On March 24, 2015 the film became available to stream on Steam and launched with a 30% discount for its first three days of availability.
