Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge is a sequel to Daytona USA, released exclusively in arcades for Sega Model 3 hardware in 1998.
There are many games in the Daytona USA series, but Daytona USA 2 is the only entry not to recycle content from the first game. The basic aims are the same, but now the player can select a car and driver and it is now possible to drift.
As the game runs on Model 3 hardware, it looks significantly better than all games both before and after its release (bar Daytona USA 2001). There are also settings which allow the arcade operator to change the amount of laps. Like the original Daytona USA, cabinets can be linked together, but the game only allows up to four players to compete simultaneously rather than eight.
Daytona USA 2: Power Edition builds on Daytona USA 2 by changing the environment of the first stage, adding more cars and making other racers more aggressive.
