Mushiking: The King of Beetles (甲虫王者ムシキング) is a card-battle stategy game that allows players to scan the cards in the arcade machine.
Story
Popo is a little fairy how lives pacifically with the insects. But one day an evil wizard commanded one of your beetles to kill Popo, but a beetle how was refered as Mushiking fighted to death to save him. Now Popo must stop the evil wizard's plans.
Gameplay
Insert a coin and get the card. You will get a beetle card (green) or a skill card (orange). Scan one beetle card and three skill cards when the "Please scan" appears on the screen. Press one of these skill buttons: Rock for hit the opponent's beetle, Paper for throw the opponent's beetle or Scissors for pinch the opponent's beetle.
Kouchuu Ouja Mushiking uses a cabinet originally designed for the Kids Medal series, primarily for its touch-screen interface. It runs on NAOMI hardware as opposed to ST-V, however.
History
As of 2008, more than 100,000 tournaments have been held, and 20 million cards have shipped. The game has made it into the Guinness Book of World records with the highest numbers of tournaments held for an arcade game. Mushiking has inspired several children's card games in arcades which up to 2015.
