The Sega MultiMedia Studio demo disc is a demonstration CD created by Sega Multimedia Studio as a means to promote the Sega Mega-CD (Sega CD) in North America. It was not released publicly, though was displayed at Summer CES 1992[1].
The disc is not "playable", instead consisting of a real-time demonstration of the Mega-CD hardware, namely its ability to scale and rotate sprites and play full motion video.
The demo's repeated use of Sonic the Hedgehog meant it was erroneously reported by several news outlets at the time as being part of (the unreleased) Sonic the Hedgehog 2 CD[2]. It was also mistaken for the scrapped Mega-CD version of Cool World.
