Echidna Software Development[1][2] was a video game development company founded in 1987, in California, by programmer John Alvarado[3] after graduating from the University of California (UCLA) with his old friends and schoolmates, Gregg Tavares, Greg Marquez (Richard Greg Marquez), Ron Nakada and Dan Chang[4]. The company is known for creating TUME, a versatile map editor, which was licensed[5] to many video game development companies in the early 90s.
