Mega Drive version
Clean pause
During gameplay, press HOLD START 
Free movement
During gameplay, press HOLD START 
(ABRACADABRA), and the player can move Zool around with the d-pad. The effect will be disabled if Zool touches an object, and you cannot fly through solid walls.
Game Gear and Master System versions
Cheat mode
During the Gremlin Graphics, Gametek or Infocom logos, press . The game will tell you cheat mode has been activated.
With this enabled, it is possible to give yourself 9 continues and select a level by pressing and on the "Get Ready" screen (though you have to be quick).
