Sega City San Jose

To do

  • Determine exact address. Apparently "The Pavilion" didn't do too well and isn't around anymore... as someone who lived in San Jose for 6+ years and walked past this address literally hundreds of times, I had no idea. From what I can TELL... it appears the shopping center that used to occupy this area on South 2nd Street (the one listed in the address) was The Pavilion/The Pavilions/The Pavilions San Jose. It's on Paseo De San Antonio, a few blocks southwest of San Jose State University's main campus. If the address/location is right, it's since been converted into a 24hr Fitness (directly across from the movie theatres - a theme with Sega City, but that's obvious business stuff). For anyone researching this, there's like three-four things in that area named "Pavilion", most notably the HP Pavilion hockey arena. Which i'm 99% sure wasn't where Sega City was, as it's a pretty far walking distance from the main downtown area, and it's a full-sized massive-investment sports arena. In this case, Sega City would have occupied a floor or two of an indoor retail space. From what I can tell, the entire "shopping center" part got demolished and had a full-size building occupy the space, so the entire block is just a building now (where it used to be an open-air plaza that you could walk through as a mall etc.) For context and stuff.
