To do
- Hm. How do we credit the EN voice actress here? We've corrected the alias-like "Herself" credit to the JP voice actress, but we can't have a link to two people. Unless we.... Hm. Okay, so on a hard technical level this would require a Production credits section for the JP and US version, but I don't know if that's necessary. We also shouldn't do an "Uncredited" tag, because then we could say the same thing for the "alias"'d JP voice actress. So I'm thinking... this is one of the times we need to do one of those Production credits edits (like for when there's a genuine mistake and we need to correct whatever to point to the right person). Thing is, I'm not familiar enough with how to do those. So doesn't need to happen soon, but the "Ulala: Herself" voice acting credit also needs to somehow point to Apollo Smile. Which also brings up ANOTHER issue: Is there a priority here? Does the JP voice actress get the aliased link, with Apollo in a note? Or perhaps, for accuracy sake, they should BOTH be moved to the note and the "Herself" credit left plain text? In this case, I'm thinking the latter, but iunno, thoughts for the future.
- Lawsuit casetext here.
- Per a quick glance at the "Ulala" wikipedia page, there's Ulala/Space Channel 5 cameos in Breaking Bad, "Nate is Late", the 2020 Sonic movie, League of Legends?, and some other stuff. Also that article's got some writing mistakes in places and lists product placement as "cameos" that Ulala the character made, so just use it as a rough direction to more solid information.
- barely-kinda-related, but laughing a little at this Ulala article. I cannot believe this many people described her as "the sexiest video game character" and "irresistable." Look when Mizuguchi said he made Ulala "sexy", he doesn't mean sexual. She's got flair and pop and spunk, but a lot of her "sexuality" is heavily smoothed over in this very tame, 2000's era art design. She was designed to carry a strong "sexy" vibe, not to be literally arousing, if that distinction makes sense. Ofc this is just contemporary gaming press and they're def not using the right vocabulary, but dang watch your hyperbole guys. Her sexiness needs to be covered, but it needs to be covered appropriately, and ensuring to distinguish between a character designed to be "fun and sexy", and a character designed so some of the audience could - anyway. Just make sure it's covered well.
