Arkagis Revolution is a homebrew shoot-'em-up game for the Sega Mega Drive that was developed by Sik in 2020. It was published by Mega Cat Studios in the United States and by Broke Studio in Europe. In August 2021, this game was included in Mega Cat Studio Collection 2 for the Evercade.[4]
The game features mode-7 style rotation at full framerate, cutscenes featuring voice acting, and saves progress through 6-digit passwords. It also supports 3-button pad, 6-button pad, mouse and/or keyboard.[5]

Story
Year 2612. Humans have started to travel space and colonizing other planets. For decades, the nation of Arkagis has been under the power of a dictator. The United Space Colonies (USC) have sent an army to bring down the dictator and free Arkagis.
However…
Soon it became clear that the USC was trying to claim Arkagis for themselves. The USC army became the defacto government, under the rule of their commander, Victor. A group of Arkagian rebels has been developing a new ship, ARX-01 in secret to take on the USC…[5]
Gameplay
Arkagis Revolution is a shooting game where you play as Lyn, a pilot from the rebels in the Martian nation of Arkagis, in an attempt to free Arkagis from the control of the United Space Colonies (USC).
The controls resemble more modern setups:-
- : Move forwards
- : Move backwards
- : Strafe left
- : Strafe right
- : Turn left
- : Turn right
- : Shoot
- START : Pause
Every so often you'll be sent to a pilot training stage. These stages will act as tutorials that teach you how to control the ship.
Weapons
You can find weapon upgrades scattered through the stages (they last until the current stage is over or you die):
- Phaser (green), a pair of beams that shoot straight forward. You start your missions with a basic phaser (weak), which can be upgraded to a wider phaser with more power.
- Homing (orange), triangle-shaped bullets that will chase the nearest target. Extremely useful when you're being chased by enemies and can't afford to aim accurately.
- Blast (red), only present in late missions, they're a powerful blast of energy that can blast through many obstacles. However they have a slow recharge time.
You can switch weapons using the , and (by default). If you only have a 3-button controller, you can also pause the game and use the D-pad to select a weapon.
Automap
By pressing MODE (or selecting it with the D-pad while paused), you can access an "automap" that will show your surroundings and the direction you're facing. This is useful in case you get lost.
Enemies
You will find many kinds of enemies as you fight against the USC troops. Here are some of them:
UVL-10 Patrol | A tank-shaped vehicle from the USC commonly used for patrol tasks. They aren't much of a treat, but they are plentiful. |
UVS-22 Fighter | An assault ship from the USC similar to yours. They are a significantly bigger threat, but unlike your ship they can't freely move sideways, giving you an important advantage. |
USL-05 Turret | The USC regularly uses stationary turrets to complement their forces. Stay alert, as you may find turrets even indoors. |
Passwords
The game progress is saved through 6-digit passwords (make sure to write them down!). The password is updated whenever you start a new stage or arrive to a checkpoint. The current password can be read from the automap.
