While not released in Japan, code exists to remove the ™ symbol from the introductory Sega logo if the game detects it is being played on a Japanese system.
Select opponent in VS mode
Hold START when selecting your character. If performed correctly, you will be able to choose who you fight; usually the opponent is picked at random.
Extra options
Complete the game in Story Game mode on Normal or Hard difficulty or press 
on the title screen to add an Extra Option setting to the main menu. This menu contains a stage select for the Story Game mode as well as a "Dream" setting for the Vs Game mode. The Dream Mode allows the player to choose the opponent in the Vs Game mode, including combinations of characters otherwise not allowed, such as mirror matches of the same character, Megazord versus Dragonzord, or human-sized characters versus Zords. This menu can also be enabled with a cheat code.
