Sega Corporation, Inc. v. Level-5, Inc. was a 2012 case in which Sega Corporation sued developer Level-5, claiming that their Inazuma Eleven series of football games infringed on Sega's "touch screen football" patents established by Touch Striker.
History
In December 2012, Sega Corporation sued fellow Japanese game developer Level-5, claiming that Level-5's Inazuma Eleven series of football games infringed on Sega's "touch screen football" patents established by Touch Striker. In response, Level-5 noted that it had been releasing games in the series without issue since 2008.[1]
Result
While the details of the case were largely kept out of the public eye, Sega Corporation's lawsuit seems to have been either unsuccessful or settled privately.
