Sega Corporation (株式会社セガ) was the successor (or at least, a name change) to Sega Enterprises which came into being on 1st November, 2000[1].

This iteration of Sega initially tasked itself squarely with publishing duties, as most of its development studios were spun-off into individual companies in their own right; WOW Entertainment, Sega AM2, Hitmaker, Amusement Vision, Sega Rosso, Smilebit, Overworks, Sonic Team, United Game Artists and Wave Master. Its role was to care of production and marketing work, though would revert to a similar structure to how Sega Enterprises had looked in July 2004.

Despite the name change, the company continued to trade as "Sega", with a near-identical logo, the only difference being the addition of a registered trademark symbol (®). Overseas subsidiaries were unaffected by the change.

"Sega Corporation" existed for nearly fifteen years before a decision, coming into effect on 1st April 2015, split the company into two distinct entities; Sega Games and Sega Interactive, overseen by a newly established Sega Holdings. This structure would also be reversed in 2020, creating a "new" Sega Corporation.
