CS Studio #3 (第3CSスタジオ or 第三CSスタジオ) was a development studio housed within the Consumer Online Company of Sega Games. It was the direct successor to CS R&D Dept. #3.
CS3 continued to create games in the Valkyria Chronicles, Hatsune Miku and Shining franchises, but mostly abandoned its previous role of producing games that were developed by companies outside Sega.
While it has not been publicly disclosed when exactly CS Studio 3 closed, previous CS3 member Takeshi Ozawa[1] was relisted as a CS Studio 2 member in December 2017, and a 2018 report stated that the Valkyria Chronicles and Sakura Taisen IPs had transferred to CS2[2]. Games which began their development at CS3, like Valkyria Chronicles 4 and Shin Sakura Taisen, ended up also seeing input from longtime CS2 developers. Many CS3 members also contributed to Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise with CS Studio 1, some of them remaining with CS1 and others moving on to CS2's successor Div. 2[3].
