Hertz Co., Ltd. (株式会社ヘルツ) was the video game development division of Japanese acoustical engineering company Hertz Engineering^[1], notable for producing the 1991 Sega Mega Drive port of the first-party Sega driving game OutRun.^[1]

Company

Hertz was founded in 1987^[1] and initially produced original video games, but due to their releases' general lack of sales, the company switched to developing home console ports of popular games, most notably for the Sega Mega Drive. Much of the company's work for Sega was subcontracted through fellow Japanese game company SIMS.^[1]

Around 1993, the company was no longer able to support itself from its contract development work, and soon went out of business.^[1]
