Version comparisons
Whereas the central hub in most versions of Rayman 2 is the Hall of Doors, the Dreamcast version instead sees Rayman make his way through the Isle of Doors. The Isle of Doors would also be used in the iOS and Nintendo 3DS versions.
Localisation comparisons
Whereas Western versions simply used a static screenshot of the title screen without the copyright date or "PRESS START BUTTON" text when booting up the game, the Japanese version instead uses 2D artwork.
In addition to the changed title, the sky colour on the title screen was changed to red, the clouds don't move, and the mountain in the background was simplified.
The option to access the Rayman 2 website was removed from the main menu.
The banner on the HUD in the Isle of Doors received extra detail.
Characters
The Japanese version of Rayman 2 makes several changes to the character designs, likely to suit the Japanese market.
Rayman's purple top is recoloured blue in the Japanese version, as it was believed that purple represents death in Japan, however purple traditionally represents the aristocratic class in Japan. The belief may have stemmed from the practice of Thai widows wearing purple when in mourning.
Globox appears to have been given simpler textures, and his hands have fewer polygons, making him look like he has less fingers. These changes also apply the rest of his family.
The Teensies' textures became brighter and more saturated in colour, and in addition their eyes were made bigger and recoloured blue.
Ly received the biggest changes of any character in the game - her face was changed to give her rounder eyes with bigger, lighter pupils, pink lips, and eyebrows, while her ears were made slightly longer. The primary colour of her suit was also changed to white.
Ssssam is coloured green.
Character design changes also apply to dialogue icons, such as the case with Ly's icon.
